Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 16, 2026 • Effective Date: January 1, 2026

1. Introduction & Overview

At wmip.dev ("we", "our", or "the Service"), we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of data privacy, user trust, and transparency. This Privacy Policy details how we handle network information when you access our diagnostic utilities, websites, and APIs.

By accessing or utilizing wmip.dev, you acknowledge the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our data handling practices, please discontinue use of the Service.

2. Information We Process

Because wmip.dev is a developer network diagnostic platform, the core functionality requires processing technical network identifiers:

  • Client IP Address: When you connect to our web servers, your public IPv4 or IPv6 socket address is received to resolve your approximate geographic region (country, city, postal zone) and Autonomous System Number (ASN). We do not store your IP address in persistent databases or build user profiles from your queries.
  • HTTP Headers & User-Agent: We read standard browser headers (such as screen dimensions and browser client hints) locally on your device to display diagnostic specifications.
  • WebRTC STUN Data: Diagnostic checks for WebRTC leaks execute client-side in your browser; candidate interfaces are evaluated within your local sandbox.

3. Third-Party Advertising & Cookies (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to serve contextual and interest-based advertisements across our website. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on prior visits to this website and other sites across the internet.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to wmip.dev and/or other sites on the Internet.

How to Opt Out of Personalized Advertising:

4. Analytics & Local Storage

We utilize Google Analytics (GA4) with IP anonymization enabled to analyze aggregate website traffic, understand popular diagnostic tools, and improve site performance.

We also use your browser's localStorage solely to persist your visual theme preference (whatismyip_theme: "dark" | "light"). No personally identifiable information (PII) is stored in local storage.

5. GDPR & CCPA/CPRA Compliance Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (such as the European Economic Area under GDPR or California under CCPA/CPRA), you possess statutory privacy rights:

  • Right to Know / Access: Request details regarding data collected about you.
  • Right to Deletion: Request erasure of any personal records.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale / Sharing: We do not sell personal data to third parties.
  • Non-Discrimination: Exercising your privacy rights will never result in service degradation.

6. Data Security & Retention

All network traffic between your client and wmip.dev is protected using modern Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS). We do not operate persistent customer account databases or retain identifiable historical lookup logs.
